The landing beach at Dramont, located next to our campsite, is an emblematic site infused with history and natural beauty. Nestled on the Mediterranean coast, this beach offers much more than relaxing in the sun and refreshing swims. Its name evokes the crucial events of the Second World War, when Allied forces landed on these shores on August 15, 1944, as part of Operation Dragoon, helping to liberate German-occupied France.

A dreambeach

The beach at Le Dramont is characterized by its unique composition, combining Esterellite pebbles, golden sand and majestic pinewoods. The pebbles, polished by the waves of the Mediterranean Sea, tell the story of the Dramont quarry, from which they were extracted to make the cobblestones used for streets in France and around the world. These cobbles also played a crucial role during the 1944 landings, providing a stable surface for Allied equipment and troops, despite the challenges posed by the terrain.

For holidaymakers staying at our campsite, the Débarquement beach offers a multitude of activities and opportunities for discovery. The crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean invite you to swim, dive and enjoy water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing. Hiking enthusiasts can explore coastal paths offering panoramic views of the sea and surrounding countryside.

Facingl’île d’Or

Located opposite the magnificent Ile d’Or, famous for its golden glow at sunset, Landing Beach offers breathtaking views of this iconic Mediterranean landscape. It’s the perfect place to watch the sunset while sipping a glass of local wine or enjoying a delicious al fresco meal.

On the beach, you’ll find a renowned beach restaurant offering excellent food and spectacular sea views. This restaurant offers an exceptional culinary experience, featuring fresh local produce and Mediterranean specialties.

On the esplanade at the top of the beach, a monument pays tribute to the soldiers who landed here on August 15, 1944 to liberate France. A barge and a commemorative stele especially honor the 36th Texas Infantry Division, which played a crucial role in this historic landing. This monument is a poignant place of remembrance, where visitors can reflect on the heroism and sacrifice of Allied troops.

Admiremagical sunsets

In the evening, Landing Beach offers a breathtaking spectacle as the sun sets over the horizon, tinting the sky with warm, golden hues. It’s the perfect time to share a picnic with family or friends, under the pine trees that offer welcome shade and a peaceful atmosphere. The beach restaurant then becomes an essential meeting place for a romantic dinner or a convivial meal, where you can extend the evening by admiring the twinkling stars above the Mediterranean.
