Our campsite is nestled right next to Cap Dramont, so it would be a shame not to explore this stunning natural gem. Get ready for breathtaking views!
You can choose between two versions of this hike:
The second one offers truly spectacular viewpoints, but it requires good footwear, as the trail is entirely technical.
The first one is accessible for all ages and follows a paved path.
Shared starting pointLe small port of Poussaï
Both hikes start from the small port of Poussaï, right next to our campsite, and share the same first part. On the far left of the port, you’ll see some stairs – go up and continue straight ahead. The paved path leads you through the forest. After about one kilometer, the road splits in two:
- For the more challenging outer trail of Cap Dramont, turn left.
- For the easier inner trail, turn right.
Easy trailSuitable for all
Follow the paved path uphill through the forest. On the final stretch, you’ll pass an old blockhouse on your righthand side. At the next T-junction, turn left and walk up to the scenic viewpoint “Le belvédère de la Batterie” where you’ll enjoy stunning views over Agay, the sea, and the Esterel mountains.
Walk back down and continue straight on the paved road. You have two options here:
On the right, you can climb up to the semaphore (access closed). This semaphore is the region’s main semaphore at its summit. Built in 1860, it is still used for maritime surveillance, but is closed to the public. You can get up close and enjoy the view over the town and the sea from the foot of this ship watchman.
On the left, our walk continues: follow the tarmac path down to its end. Pass a large rock on the left, then continue straight ahead. You will pass a large rock on the right that is much sought-after by climbing clubs. At the bottom, turn left and you’ll return to the stairs at the small port of Poussaï.
Technical trailsFor the more adventurous
Continue straight after the fork and follow the bend to the left. Go down to the end of the path, then turn right and climb the stairs on your right.
The path climbs and bends to the right, then to the left – this leads you to the Fenêtre, a natural window-shaped opening in the rock, with a bench to admire the sea.
Continue along the trail. You’ll have a great view of the rock called “La Cathédrale” emerging from the water. There are several more viewpoints along the way, until you see a tree in the middle of the path with a handrail to your right.
Keep going until you reach a Y-shaped intersection – take the left path downhill. At the next intersection, turn left again to admire La Cathédrale up close. Continue on and you’ll briefly rejoin the easy trail (for about 200 m). After passing a large rock on your right, there’s a short paved climb. About 30 meters after that, take the small path that descends to your left, just before a painted rock.
Stay left at the fork – you’ll descend toward the sea and end up on the rocks, with a spectacular view of the Île d’Or. Continue on the trail that climbs up to the right via a staircase.
At the top, follow the wide path to the left, which leads back down. At the bottom, turn left. You’ll pass a forest house on your left. Just before the house, take the small path on the left. You’ll see a small cave on your left (it belongs to the spiders that live there 😄) – stay on the right side of the trail.
This path brings you to the top of the stairs leading down to Plage de la Corde, a hidden and beautiful cove. Take a break to enjoy the scenery.
Then retrace your steps and, at the forest house, turn left to return to the stairs that lead back to the port of Poussaï.
